While most industries are bracing themselves for a difficult few years in our post Covid-19 world, the Private Tutoring industry is expected to grow by a projected US $105.9 Billion in the next seven years [1]. While this means demand for quality private tutors will go up, so too will competition. The tutors employed by Threshold Education are at the heart of our organization, and we are incredibly proud to have a team of dedicated and professional specialists in a wide range of subjects. If you are interested in joining our team, read on to learn about our requirements and selection procedure.
Experience
We require all tutors to have at least two years' experience of private tutoring 1:1. Most of our tutors have been working as private tutors for more than five years, and many have worked or are working as qualified teachers who have either turned to private tuition full-time or to supplement their current income. The majority of our tutors (as well as our founders) have made private tuition their careers. This means that we maintain an incredibly high standard of experienced and dedicated professionals who make the achievements of their clients their top priority.
Qualifications
At the very minimum, tutors are required to have a degree from a prestigious Russell Group or equivalent university and must have graduated with a strong academic record. The majority of our tutors are graduates from Oxford, Cambridge, and Harvard etc. We also employ many QTS tutors who work at leading private schools in the UK. As many of our tutors are specialists in their respective subjects, Threshold Education employs tutors that have a wide array of qualifications, including ESOL certifications and SEN teachers. All tutors are required to have an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Selection Procedure
Our selection procedure is very rigorous with only 7% of applicants being accepted into our network. Once we have reviewed all necessary documents, prospective tutors will be invited to an interview during which you will be required to present a sample lesson. This lesson should be interactive and engaging and should demonstrate detailed knowledge of curricula and exam specifications.
There are many reasons to become a private tutor. While private tutors are always in demand, the bond formed with clients can be incredibly rewarding in itself. Our client's success is at the heart of our work, and we are proud to have a team that dedicate themselves fully to their clients. If you think you have what it takes to be part of the Threshold Tutors team, fill out our application form and we will be in touch: https://www.thresholdeducation.com/tutor-applications
